Corporate ProfileHealth & Safety Professionals Inc. (HSPI) is a health and safety consulting and training firm established in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in 1998. We are a Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) approved provider of Basic Certification training; we are committed to professionalism, excellence, timely and efficient service, and customer satisfaction. We tailor our service(s) and continue to develop courses as requested, to meet the needs of our clients.
HSPI has conducted close to 700 training sessions, to approximately 9000 participants, and serves a client base of over 400 businesses, including Government agencies.In addition to our training sessions, we produce a health and safety newsletter, “Safety In Action”, on a tri-annual basis to our valued customers.
Our staff are volunteer members on various committees, including the Industrial Accident Prevention Association (Northern Ontario Division), and the Sault Ste. Marie Safe Communities Partnership. We are members of the Chamber of Commerce, and are contract trainers for the Ontario Service Safety Alliance. Most recently, Health & Safety Professionals Inc. has joined Communities Quality Improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF EMPLOYER:
to instruct, inform and supervise workers to protect their health and safety
to appoint competent persons as supervisors
to take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the workers
to abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all applicable regulations, and ensure that the measures and procedures in the Act and regulations are carried out.

to ensure that any equipment or protective devices or clothing required by Health & Safety Professionals Inc. is used or worn by the worker
to take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the workers.

to work in compliance with the Act and all applicable regulations
to use or wear any equipment, protective devices or clothing required by Health & Safety Professionals Inc., or other employers, when on their property
to report any known violation of the Act or regulation to the employer or supervisor. It is in the best interest of all parties to consider health and safety in every activity. Commitment to health and safety is expected of each employee in this organization.
Rose is a Human Resources Consultant with her Ph.D. and Masters Degrees from MichiganStateUniversity where she received several awards and scholarships in recognition of her achievements. Areas of concentration included adult education, human resources, and management of change in organizations. Rose’s work experience spans almost 30 years as an educator. In addition she has served as Dean of Business & Hospitality, as well as an Adult Education Consultant.
Rose has facilitated training in how to deal with the Challenge of Change with several corporate clients. Other initiatives include Organizational Effectiveness, Positive Communications, Time Management, Personality Style Indicators, Train the Trainer and the DiSC Profile System (Dimensions of Behaviour).
For the past ten years Rose has been consulting with Health & Safety Professionals Inc. Rose's committment to quality and change is evidenced through her involvement with Communities Quality Improvement where she is the Vice Chair of the Quality Leadership Team.
Jon Simonds, CIH, ROH - Consulting Hygienist
Jon is an Industrial Hygienist with designations from the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists and the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.
Jon holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Geology) from Lake Superior State University. He has over 25 years of experience in various sectors and provides consultations to Health & Safety Professionals Inc. in the areas of personal protective equipment, indoor air quality, and noise. Jon is also a OSHA (US) certified Construction Safety Officer.
Pat Story, RN, DOHN, COHN(C) - Occupational Health Consultant
Pat is an Occupational Health Nurse with 30 years of experience in a variety of settings. She has worked as an Occupational Health Nurse in private industry and as a Health and Safety Officer in health care, municipal government, and education sectors.
In her various positions she has developed and implemented comprehensive health and safety programs, written policies and procedures, and acted as an advisor to management, joint health and safety committees, and employees. She has also been extensively involved in training of both adults and youth. Education programs that she has developed and delivered include First Aid and CPR, WHMIS, Ergonomics, Health and Safety Roles and Responsibilities, Workplace Inspection Procedures and various health topics.
Louise Caicco Tett, RN, BScN, CRSP, President - Occupational Health Consultant
Louise is a Registered Nurse with a degree from the University of Western Ontario. She has a certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and holds her Canadian Registered Safety Professional Designation. Louise has worked with Health Care, Industrial, and Construction sectors as an Occupational Health Consultant and has 20 years of facilitation and training experience. She has assisted many local businesses in the development and, subsequent implementation of health and safety systems in their workplaces. Ms. Caicco Tett also specializes in developing and delivering customized training programs for her customers.
In addition to her work in safety, Louise Caicco Tett assists employers with their WSIB case management, return to work programs, and appeals.
Frieda Schnablegger, Owner of Business Office Support Services.
Frieda provides executive support services to Health & Safety Professionals Inc. and has over 30 years experience as an executive secretary in the financial service sector, and as a legal secretary. Frieda started her professional career as an elementary school teacher.
